Who will make the Apple iPad 2 announcement?

It’s 4 days until the March 2 Apple Media Event when iPad 2 will be announced, but one question still remains, who unveil the device?

Will iPad 2 be announced by Steve Jobs, despite recent health issues, or will Tim Cook, acting Apple chief, make the announcement?

TechRadar reports Apple’s shareholders are already asking for updates regarding Steve’s health and status with the company, and given that issue, it would appear that Apple COO and acting-CEO Tim Cook will announce iPad 2 March 2.

NewsFactor states:

“Steve Jobs has resisted a succession plan for a long period of time. So while the board is signaling that it has one, that plan might simply constitute that they are going to go out and look for somebody,” Enderle said. “Whoever is named CEO of Apple after Jobs is clearly going to have a big impact on the valuation of Apple. Most companies like Apple that lose its iconic founder flounder for a while and tend to have a fairly steep decline in stock price at least for the first few years.”

Will you be tuned in to the iPad 2 announcement?  Who do you think will make the announcement, Steve Jobs, or Tim Cook?  Does it matter to you who will make the announcement?

The ironic thing about the whole “Steve Jobs or not Steve Jobs” issue is that Steve doesn’t have the same role he had when he started Apple. He has been the poster boy of the company, the products, the service, everything that is Apple. But the truth is Apple is a huge company and it’s not like everyone sits in Steve’s office waiting for him to say “Hey! I’ve got an idea!” and then they all run off and make it happen. Steve is not the sole inventor, creator, R&D specialist, logistics, etc, etc, etc at Apple. Even if Steve died tomorrow – the investors may not like it but Apple would carry on. Steve was/is a great visionary that started a great movement but he’s not carrying the company on his shoulders and it won’t die if he leaves his current position.

I love how nobody actually knows any details about the ipad 2. Apple is so good at surprising people with their new product, and that’s what keeps people intrigued in the ipad 2.

Does it really matter who unveils it? As long as we get it soon then that’s all I want!

  • Br3ntman

I think its Phil Schiller because he did the iphone 3gs event when steve couldnt do it

  • Warren

Would be nice but i highly doubt Johnny would do it. He’s very camera and people shy apparently

Yeah it matters. I want Steve to do it. If not Steve then I bet Phil Schiller over Tim Cook like the Macworld in 2009. However, if I could pick someone to do keynotes in Steves absence it would be Johnny Ive.
