With tens of thousands of apps currently available for the iPad and iPhone, there is certainly no shortage of distractions to keep us smartphone-wielding humans entertained — but as it turns out, we’re not the only ones who could benefit from bit of beguilement.
That said, in hopes of staving off boredom in human and swine alike, a team of Dutch designers have created Pig Chase — an app for interspecies entertainment that playfully pits iPad users against real-life pigs, who might otherwise only meet one another on a plate. (more…)

Have young kids and want to introduce them to puzzles? Then Pirate Puzzles for the iPad is actually a really interesting tool for kids to start learning how to complete them, while keeping them interested. The game is obviously pirate themed and it keeps that theme throughout. The game has close to 20 puzzles to do in two different areas on a map. You choose the area you want to start from on the map and then are presented with a menu of locked puzzles that are unlocked as you progress through each one. The puzzles skill levels are broken down by row. The top row being the easiest and the bottom row being a bit harder. This is done by adding more puzzle pieces to the mix. (more…)

As a child my favorite PC game was minesweeper. I wasn’t very good mind you, but that didn’t deter me from playing it over and over again. Minesweeper Q for iPad has rekindled my fascination with the game, one which seems custom-tailored for the iPad’s multi-touch screen. (more…)

Just in time for Halloween Monster Madness HD is here to give you some tricks, as well as some treats. If you like Dr. Mario or match-up type games, then this is one I’d take a look at. It’s fun, easy to learn, and has great graphics and animations. The designers took extra special care to make it simple enough for young players, but also difficult enough for more advanced/older users. It’s a game that I’ve played and enjoyed, but so have my young kids. Not something that every game for the iPad can do. (more…)

iOS gaming is a pure delight, provided of course one finds a game that is well-designed, visually appealing and most importantly, fun. Beaver’s Revenge for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch is a game which has fast become my absolute favorite for iOS devices.

There are plenty of developers catering to young kids when it comes to iPad apps. Right now one company stands above the rest when it comes to creating fun and engaging apps for children that are not geared towards learning to write, read, or other educational type things, but instead, towards fun. The company is Toca Boca. They’ve created this great line of apps that include Doctor, Tea Party, Paint My Wings, Helicopter Taxi, Robot Lab, and now Hair Salon. (more…)

Volcano island is a turn based strategy game that involves moving people to safety one turn at a time. They are on an island that is about to have a volcanic eruption and the land is sinking beneath the ocean. The users job is to save everyone by moving them to ships or boats. Beware though, as creatures lurk in the waters, and some of the people visiting the island can not swim (therefore they have to be accompanied by someone who can). The game is comprised of five islands and each has three levels to work through, and each level has different challenges one must circumvent strategically. (more…)
