GreenWood: Handcrafted, environmentally friendly iPad and iPhone cases

Greenwood iPad

When searching for an iPad and iPhone case there are a few things people look for: protection and appearance. Individuals want a case that protects their device, while not taking away from the beauty of the iPad and iPhone.

That said, there’s something individuals should also consider when purchasing a case, the impact of the case on the environment. Recognizing this, GreenWood has set out to create cases that not only protect your device, but which also look fantastic and are environmentally friendly.

Based in Florida, the 4-month old company of 5 uses local materials to fashion handmade iPad, iPhone and Macbook cases and skins using only the highest quality wood.

At GreenWood the team employs modern technology and old fashion hard work to precisely shape and finish each item by hand. The wood used features great color, texture and get this, a pleasant smell to protect your device and make it stand out.

The wood used includes bamboo, walnut, zebrawood, rosewood, maple, and more, with customers free to offer there suggestions as to additional types of wood the GreenWood team should explore in future case and skin offerings.

For the team at GreenWood, environmental sustainability is of the utmost importance. To that end they have not use environmentally friendly products, but also give $1 of EVERY sale donated to the Arbor Day Foundation. The contributions to the Arbor Day Foundation go toward education, tree planting, reforestation, and programs like Tree City USA.

Moving beyond basic cases and skins, GreenWood is in the process of finalizing a custom laser engraving program and that will go live at the end of the month. Pricing for this isn’t finalized but right now it looks like it will likely add about $20-25 to the cost of the product for custom laser engraving.

GreenWood has been kind enough to offer an iPad and iPhone case to us for review and once received we will put it through the paces and let you know what we think of GreenWood’s work.  Until then, visit their site to pick up your own case to protect your iPad, iPhone and/or Macbook, while also helping to protect the environment.
