iPad Rumored To Finally Get Office in March 2013

office

There has been plenty of speculation as to when or if Microsoft will bring Office to mobile devices such as the iPad. Some have said that they’ll want to keep Office, one of their core products, off devices like the iPad to help sell more Windows 8 tablets. However, speaking at a press event in the Czech Republic, Petr Bobek (Product Manager) reportedly stated that mobile versions of Office for iOS will be made available in March of next year. To add even more fuel to the fire, a press release found by The Verge seems to also point to this:

“In addition to Windows, Office will be also available on other operating systems, Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian,” says Microsoft, while separately noting that there will also be a new version of Office Web Apps too. – via The Verge

If this all pans out, if it turns out that iOS users do indeed get Microsoft Office for their devices in March, right about the time of the next iPad release, it could go a long way to convincing many that the iPad is indeed more than a consumption device, it’s also a creation tool.

However, we’ve all heard these rumors before, it was just earlier this year that the rumors came out, hit hard, then were quickly denied and then died down.

What do you think? Is Microsoft going to finally put Office on the iPad? Or are they going to wait and see what happens with Surface first?
