Next Issue launches iPad app, like Netflix for magazines

Next Issue

Next Issue Media–a joint venture formed by Condé Nast, Hearst, Meredith, News Corp. and Time Inc. has launched its digital newsstand app for the iPad.

The app will provide access to 39 magazine titles including Bon Appetit, Brides, Golf Digest, GQ, Self and more.

Next Issue Media launched a similar app for Google’s Android OS in April and is now expanding to Apple’s iOS. According to CEO Morgan Guenther, the company has about 12,000 active users of its Android app. Guenther says the company defines “active user” as someone who has accessed the app in the last 30 to 60 days.

The company offers multiple plans including an unlimited plan that gives consumers access to all monthly titles, including back issues, for just $9.99 per month.

It also offers an unlimited plan that provides access to monthly magazines and weekly magazines such as People, Sports Illustrated, The New Yorker and Time for $14.99 per month. Individual magazines are available for $2.49 to $5.99 per issue.

Is Next Issue something you’d download?
