Before I begin I have to at least acknowledge I’ve never read any of Susie Cornfield’s novels. This normally wouldn’t be troublesome, except with this review, I’m supposed to be talking about a “prequel” to these novels. Thankfully, due to the nature of the application I was able to use the app, understand it, and have no troubles due to never reading the mentioned stories. However, if you have read them, and wonder why I’m not discussing the actual “story”, well, now you know!
So what is The Lost Journal ($4.99)? It’s an interactive book…but unlike many of said apps I review, this one isn’t for kids. It’s a prequel to Susie Cornfield’s Young Adult Dekaydence novels, and is written specifically for the iPad. Read on…

The iPad 2 is finally here. It is thinner, lighter, faster, and more powerful than the first iPad. Overall it is a joy to hold and use. But not everyone is happy. A growing number of iPad 2 users are reporting what appears to be yellowish discoloration around the edges of the iPad 2 screen.
What is causing this?
At the moment there are two theories. The first is that Apple rushed the iPad 2 to market and the glue used to bond the screen to the iPad 2′s glass has not completely dried yet causing the discoloration. Apparently this happened with the iPhone 4 when it was first released and after a few days the problems literally disappeared. Read on…

The phrase everyone is spouting off is, “it’s evolutionary instead of revolutionary”, and while this may be mostly true at the surface, I think people are using it as a negative…instead, in this case it’s a HUGE positive. Sure, the 2nd generation iPad still looks like the first generation model. I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t. It’s a tablet. A slate. A slab. It’s form is less important than what is inside the sucker…and I think most people who say it’s not much except a small upgrade are not looking at this the right way. Almost any new iPad will be more upgrade than anything…that’s about all it can be. But what an upgrade it is.
The first model was groundbreaking, and while everyone thinks that new models of products need to be such to make an impact, I believe this thinking is wrong. Once the “ground has been broken” it’s more about what you do with the newly cleared land that matters. With iPad 2 Apple has taken said land and put a beautiful skyscraper on it. One that Samsung, RIM, Motorola, and others will struggle, and struggle mightily to take down. Read on…

According to one analyst, initial sales of iPad 2 should surpass those of the first generation iPad, with lines to purchase iPad 2 expected to be shorter due to the variety of places one can pick up the device tomorrow.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted preliminary approval for the use of iPads in airplane cockpits.

We’ve covered the differences between iPad 2 data plans offered by AT&T and Verizon. Now another interesting twist to the story has occurred, one which should please some iPad owners using AT&T’s wireless data to power their 3G service. Read on…
What’s the MagicWand? It’s a simple yet effective hardware add-on for your wireless Apple keyboard and Magic Trackpad. It easily and nicely connects the two devices together, allows them to be moved together and used easily from a couch or chair…and even better, keeps them IN PLACE on the desk. If you’re a regular here at theipadfan.com then you have no doubt seen my reviews of the previous 3 apps in the the Violet Series by MyBlackDogBooks. You have probably also found that my reviews for them are extremely high and full of praise. There is a reason for that, they are just amazing interactive storybook apps for kids. The newest release, story 4 (though officially #3 in sequence due to the Christmas release), “Violet and the Mystery Next Door” ($3.99) is their best yet! Read on…

I recently posted about how there will be long lines on Friday to buy iPad 2 due to Apple not allowing pre-orders. Well there is one line that has already started. I found out about it when I called my local Apple store tonight to inquire about iPad 2 availability. The conversation went something like this:
