Review : Brenthaven 5-in-1 iPad Case
It’s amazing sometimes how much hype comes from the idea of a certain product, before it’s even released. It’s even more amazing when it’s an accessory such as Brenthaven 5-in-1 Case ($59.95). Thankfully it deserved most of it too.1. Two-sided Protection: The case provides great protection for the iPad, not just the back of the device but also the front when closed. It’s a hardshell case and will protect very well in a variety of situations. The only problems I had with it was installation proved a tad difficult. Mainly the fact that it’s a very snug fit, but once installed, this is a good thing.
2. Horizontal/Landscape Prop-up: If you’re into watching movies and videos on the iPad then this ability will be very useful to you. By using both the front and back case pieces you can prop up the iPad for easy viewing in landscape view.
3. Easy Grip Handle: This is kind of great actually. The back of the case has a small loop that your hand slides into allowing you to hold it out, up, or just in front of you without fear of dropping or slipping. Perfect for simply reading or browsing, but also great in a meeting. Just bring up an app, image, or something you want to hold up as an additional visual aide to your presentation, and assuming it’s a small audience, it would come in handy to have a strap to hold the iPad against your hand.
4. Keying Stand: This is the one “way” that just didn’t do it for me. Does it work? Sure, but the fact that I have the entire other side of the case sticking up from behind the iPad turns me off to using it. It could have been better implemented with two tiny little kickstands on the left and right bottom sides. That said, it does work, and is sturdy enough and on enough of an angle to allow one to key effortlessly on the iPad. It is PERFECT for use on a desktop or table. On the couch, in your lap, not so much.
