Review : Griffin Technology Loop Stand

There are many iPad stands available, some are great, others leave a lot to be desired, some require you to constantly reconfigure it to work in different ways, and some don’t do anything but store the device.  Then there is the Griffin Technology Loop ($29.99).  Here is a simple yet elegant stand that somehow does everything a stand for the iPad should, and requires no repositioning or moving of the parts, as it’s 1 single piece of hardware.

The stand itself is a sturdy oval shape with a raised backside to help support the iPad when in the two slots.  It’s coated with a rubber that helps ensure that the device doesn’t slip while in place, and to protect against any scratches.  It may not look like much, but it works great.

There are essentially 4 ways to use the stand:
1. Portrait style with a slight angle for storage
2. Portrait style with large angle for gaming/keying
3. Landscape style with slight angle for storage

4. Landscape style with large angle for gaming/keying

Personally I almost always store my iPad in landscape, regardless of the stand, and Loop was no exception.  The greatest feature is the large angle style in landscape for keying.  It really lets you use the iPad at the perfect angle for keying/production and is great for longer term use when sitting at a desk or table.

The design of the Loop allows one to connect the USB cable for syncing and charging in either landscape or portrait orientation, making it a very versatile stand for your iPad, and it even works great with the Apple Case for the iPad, or other cases with roughly the same thickness.

At $29.99 isn’t not the cheapest stand out there, but it’s easily one of the best, and when you’re buying a product from Griffin Technology you know you’re getting quality, even Apple thinks so, they sell many of their products through the online Apple Store and even in some “brick and mortar” shops! Check it out.
