Review : System Manager for iPad

The iPad, both the WiFi and 3G versions, have been reviewed ad nauseam with common threads running throughout a majority of the reviews.  These include (but certainly are not limited to) the author’s review of; battery life, network status, available memory (especially important if you did not opt for the 64GB iPad), and for those more competent with respect to system processes and background application information than I, which background applications your iPad runs that previously you were not privy to.

System Manager for iPad is a $1.99 app that aims to assist one in learning more about and managing all the above in a manner that even the least tech savvy individual can understand, complete with an easy to decipher UI.

Some of the especially useful features of System Manager for iPad are:

  1. Real time wired, active, and inactive memory status displayed using a pie-chart
  2. An extremely accurate visualization of battery life, including a full charge alert feature
  3. Depending on your iPad model, your iPad’s 3G and WiFi network status
  4. Your WiFi and/or 3G MAC and IP Address

Along with the above features, System Manager for iPad, thanks to an update released on April 30, version 2.0.1, provides something very useful for anyone with an iPad, tips on conserving battery life.

System Manager for iPad is helpful for those that are both computer literate and those that are not.  The app provides a great deal of information in a format that almost anyone would be able to understand.  Further, when iPhone OS 4.0 is released (assuming Apple isn’t prevented from releasing the version by the FTC), information on what apps are running and how much of the iPad’s memory they are consuming will be more important than ever before.  Having System Manager for iPad will make retrieving that information both extremely easy and helpful.

What do the two on off buttons actually do? One says “Full Cycle Maintanance” and the other says “Full Charge” there doesn't seem to be any reference to what these do, anywhere in the App or on the developers website.
