Review : US+U Swivel ProFolio Case for the New iPad

holdercaseback

The Swivel ProFolio by Us+U is a nice two-panel iPad case, that is surprisingly lightweight and easy to use. It’s versatile, and great for those who need to use the iPad for “showing things” to people, due to built-in hand-strap. It may feel a little bulky, but that’s due to the hand-strap itself, otherwise it feels great. It’s made of a high-quality ballistic nylon and lined with micro-fiber suede. Basically, it feels very nice, and looks nice too.

The Swivel ProFolio features a self-adjusting hand-strap, as I mentioned. It’s really great for showing others something without having to actually hold the iPad and flip it around. It would be perfect for table-presentations, or for use as a presentation tool, when one may not have access to a podium. The center-mounted pivot is great and swivels and moves as needed…I was really impressed with the hand-strap use with this particular model. I’ve used others like it, so far this is my favorite in this category.

The case itself has all the cutouts for sound, volume control, sleep/wake button, camera hole, etc. Although I was a little surprised that it didn’t utilize the built-in sleep/wake function like the SmartCover does using the magnets. The case also has two elastic bands on the side that can either hold the case closed tightly or even better, hold the front flap open against the back…something that I’ve always hated about the SmartCover (it kind of flips around when open against the iPad’s back).

The only thing I was not really fond of is the velcro straps for securing the iPad within it’s holder of the case. It just felt a little cheap to me. I didn’t have a problem with the iPad not staying put, or the velcro coming loose, or anything like that…I just personally wasn’t a fan.

Some More Features:

Rotating Handle: The rotating handle is self-adjusting. Meaning one doesn’t have to adjust it or use velcro straps to find the right grip. It just works.

Work Mode: Built-in, flush kickstand, that is great for keying with the iPad’s keyboard. It’s a little bit taller than most other keyboarding stands for the iPad, but I actually found it very usable. The stand has the center cutout to allow it to rest on one leg when being used on the couch, a real nice extra I have to say. Overall, the kickstand was almost as impressive as the built-in handle.

Video Mode: The angles to view video are all available to you using the case, you’ve seen them all before, and they work decently well here.

Pen Holder: There is a little tab-loop to keep a pen or a thin stylus handy…nice little addition.

Front Pocket: The front pocket is nice for holding paper from a meeting or perhaps business cards. It can hold a stylus if need be, but it’s best used with a small notepad. However, I’d actually would have liked to not have this at all. It just seems to add more bulk to the case and isn’t something I have a use for. The case would probably be better of without it.

Overall The Swivel ProFolio Case for the New iPad by US+U is a top-notch case for professionals that works with “The New iPad” as well as the iPad 2. It has all the necessary uses available, some great little additions, and is priced very competitively at $69.99.
