PDF Connoisseur: Your one-stop iPad document management solution
Apple’s iPad is a device devices built for reading, be it books, news, email, documents and more. But there is one area where that is a constant annoyance for any iPad owner desiring to read PDFs, iBooks.
When it comes to PDFs, iBooks offers a poor experience at best.
Enter PDF Connoisseur from Kdan Mobile. The goal of this app is to be “the one and only PDF app you will ever need on your iPad.” How does it stack up? Let’s find out.
PDF Connoisseur counts among its many features the following:
- Save to PDF
- PDF form filling
- File transfer
- File scanning
- Fast rendering speed
As both an attorney and writer, PDF documents fly in out of my inbox all day, some requiring urgent responses, some requiring my signature. PDF Connoisseur handled these tasks with ease, in addition to simple conversion of PDFs to Word docs without losing any of the necessary formatting.
Reading PDFs is also a delight when using this app. Users can highlight, underline, strike-out, add drawings and notes where ever you need to.
PDF Connoisseur also allows one to grab files from your computer, or cloud-based storage like Dropbox, iDisk, GoogleDocs, Box.net, and more.
The main issue I have with the app is the price. $9.99 is steep for any app, let alone an app whose primary function is PDF and document management. The features of PDF Connoisseur are robust, but some may find the price off-putting.
That said, PDF Connoisseur may be the strongest iPad PDF manager out there. Price notwithstanding, it’s definitely an app you should consider when needing a solution for your document management.
