Fumble! for the iPad is a neat little game that at first glance appears “kid-like”. But make no mistake about it, it’s not easy or just for kids, that much was clear pretty quickly.

So what is Fumble!? Before I actually read about it I just assumed it was a football related app, but I was dead-wrong. It’s more “the game Memory, meets Twister for your fingers”. It takes the thinking of memory cards idea, places a bunch on the screen (face up however), and then shows you an order of cards to find at the top. The trick is, you have to find them…while holding down each card in the order, until they are all found. Higher points if it’s done in the same order. Sounds easy enough, but it gets pretty hard. My fingers were twisting and turning and flipping all over the place trying to reach each card in sequence before the timer ran out. It’s something I really had to use both hands for, and after a few minutes become pretty hard.

There are 3 themes to choose from, but only one is unlocked to start. The other two are unlocked via coins earned from playing the app. The more you play, the better you get, the quicker the other themes can be unlocked. Even better, there is a Vs mode that splits the screen and allows users to go head-to-head with others. This was just a blast!

The graphics aren’t anything amazing, and as I stated they are very kid-like, especially the objects (I’d love to see some more “grown-up” cards), the music is just ok, as are the sound effects, but the game itself is addicting and fun! There are pretty pointless “fun facts” about some of the objects on the cards that appear when you finish, but thankfully these can be turned off.

In the end, Fumble is a very fun game, especially with two people, and I highly recommend people check it out.
