Review : Toca Tailor by Toca Boca
The big wigs at Toca Boca must have developers pulling overtime lately, as it feels as if every few weeks I’m back here telling you all about another app from this great company. I’m waiting for them to falter, as they can’t have great ideas and development every time right? Thankfully, yet again, they’ve hit that sweet spot between real-world toy and iPad app for kids. This time it’s Toca Tailor.
Toca Tailor allows kids to design custom outfits using a palette of colors, fabrics, and patterns. But what really had my kids loving it was the camera feature that brings real-world surroundings into the design process. They loved taking shots of their own clothes, my clothes, our furniture, and more, and using these to create their own backgrounds and patterns. It’s just one of those things that Toca Boca really does well…figuring out just what kids would love to be able to do, and giving it to them.
My oldest daughter walks around telling people she’s “going to do fashion when she’s older”. While she has a while before she truly decides, at 7 she had a blast dreaming and designing using Toca Tailor. She spent countless hours accessorizing and finding just the right patterns and look she wanted. That isn’t to say my younger daughter, 5, didn’t enjoy the app as well. She did. She had buttons and pockets all over her designs, mixing and matching the most random things to create something, something we’ll call “unique”.
Features:
- Four Fun Characters
- Mix, match, rotate and adjust 24 different fabric patterns
- Create your own unique patterns with the camera feature
- Add 24 different clothing details – buttons, bows and much much more
- Style characters with 30 cool accessories – glasses, mustaches, jewelry
- Built-in camera to create your own background for style snapshots
- Limitless design combinations
Toca Boca is just one of the greatest app developers around. When it comes to children’s apps, I may say they are the best around. They just seem to know what children want, sometimes before they do, and they bring this fun to life on the iPad. Their kid-friendly approach that gives children open-play with no rules or limits, without ads or in-app purchases, is just the right way to go, and I applaud them for it, each and every time.
Another great kids app for the iPad by Toca Boca. This time, kids are fashion designers and the world is their palette. Check out the video below!
