Apple announces iPhone 5 event scheduled for September 12

Apple iPhone 5 Event

Putting to rest months of speculation, Apple today sent out invitations to an event on September 12 where the iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled.

The invites to the event next Wednesday show the date of the event, the phrase “It’s almost here”, and a cryptic  shadow from the number 12 of the date forming the number “5″ – a seemingly obvious reference to the next generation of the iPhone.

New features expected on the iPhone 5 include a larger (4-inch) screen, faster processor, a new metallic design and, hopefully, an improved camera.

The actual release date of the iPhone 5 is still uncertain. Some outlets have suggested late September, while AllThingsD reported recently that it will launch in October.

The main feature I would like to have is battery that actually would last a whole day of intense usage… this would be more important and useful that some more megapixels or inches of screen.
